This advanced group helps group members generalize coping skills (through the lens of compassion) with an emphasis on application.

Members will practice emotion regulation through the lens of compassion by:

  • Continuing with your mindfulness practice.
  • Practicing grounding exercises ( “window of tolerance,” Ventral Vagal Anchors).
  • Reviewing, applying and generalizing skills.
  • Building self-appreciation by developing character strengths.
  • Increasing motivation through the use of valued intentions.

The group makes use of an excellent text, The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook: A Proven Way to Accept Yourself, Build Inner Strength, and Thrive by Kristin Neff, PhD and Christopher Germer, PhD, as well as a number of other handouts and resources.
