Services

At RICBT/OneCBT we offer an evaluation of your health-related concerns and provide several treatment options with our specialized clinical health psychologists. The first step is for you to complete our New Patient Paperwork if you are interested in our services. We will review your information to see if we may be a good fit for your needs and will contact you to schedule an initial evaluation.

Our Health Psychology Program offers the following options:

  • Initial Evaluation with a Health Psychologist
  • Individual Psychotherapy with a Health Psychologist
  • Referral for Group Therapy
  • Referral for Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management

What Is Health Psychology?

Health psychology focuses on the connection between our mind and body. Health psychologists examine how psychological, social, and behavioral factors affect our health, with evidence that maximizing these factors can significantly influence our overall well-being. People experiencing physical symptoms and poor health often describe feeling depressed, anxious, alone, or hopeless. We strive to help people struggling with health conditions by teaching skills that promote emotional health, improved function, better quality of life, and better ways of dealing with symptoms.

Treatment Areas

At RICBT & OneCBT, we have a team of clinicians specialized in evidence-based behavior medicine/health psychology services. Services are tailored for each individual patient and draw from treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, and others.

Treatment Areas Include:

Behavioral Sleep Medicine: You will learn to use cognitive and behavioral strategies to treat your insomnia, sleep phase disorders, difficulty adhering to CPAP machines for obstructive sleep apnea, and other sleep-related difficulties. If you are struggling with insomnia, we highly recommend behavioral sleep work, such as cognitive-behavioral treatment for insomnia, prior to starting (or trying another) insomnia medication.

Chronic Pain Management: You will learn skills to deal with chronic pain associated with a range of conditions and to engage in a life that is meaningful to you, even in the face of pain.

Living with Medical Illnesses: You will learn strategies to help deal with symptoms of medical illnesses that may persist, in spite of adequate medical treatment, and to manage the stress, anxiety, and depression that you may be experiencing alongside your physical ailments.

Initial Evaluation

What can I expect?

You will meet with a health psychologist who will focus on evaluating your health-related concern(s) and your mental health. You will receive feedback regarding diagnosis and available treatment options. Based on provider availability, you may be able to begin treatment with one of our team members soon after this evaluation session, or you may be placed on a waitlist.

Individual Psychotherapy

How long will it last?

You and your provider will determine your length of treatment. Individual treatment will generally last three months, after which you and your provider will determine collaboratively whether you will complete treatment, continue treatment on a maintenance schedule (for example, monthly), or whether you would like to continue individual sessions. Continuation of individual sessions is based on provider availability and could involve you being placed on a waitlist.

What does treatment involve?

You and your provider will collaboratively determine your treatment goals. Your provider will personalize your treatment based on your needs while drawing from therapy approaches that have been shown to be effective. Treatment approaches will draw from evidence-based therapies including but not limited to: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and pain reprocessing therapy (PRT).

Here at RICBT/OneCBT we have numerous psychotherapists who specialize in an array of mental health concerns. Your provider may recommend that you work with another psychotherapist to address other mental health concerns in addition to your health-focused treatment in our health psychology program. In such cases, your provider will discuss with you this recommendation and the best available options.

Group Therapy

What does treatment involve?

Your provider may recommend your participation in group therapy. Here at RICBT/OneCBT we offer various group therapies that can help complement your individual therapy. Your provider will discuss with you which groups they recommend and provide you a referral. This may be a great option to pursue, especially if you are on the waitlist for individual therapy.

Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management

What does treatment involve?

Your provider may recommend you receive an evaluation for medication management in addition to psychotherapy. Here at RICBT/OneCBT we have prescribing providers who work collaboratively with our psychotherapists. If you and your provider determine you want to pursue this evaluation, your provider will place an internal referral for your psychiatric evaluation.
