Have you struggled with your weight? Maybe, whenever you think about losing weight, you become anxious and feel like you “can’t do it.” Or you may have tried losing weight in the past but didn’t reach a specific goal, so you feel frustrated and unmotivated. These feelings are natural! But it is challenging to overcome these thoughts so you can focus on staying on track. RICBT has developed a Weight Loss group to help you create a better relationship with food and teach you how to manage all the emotions that come with losing weight.

With the height of winter approaching and COVID still lingering around the corner, many people have found themselves ordering out and snacking more often. This has caused a significant increase in weight gain throughout the country. But whether your eating habits are due to external factors or internal struggles, the fact remains the same: breaking those habits is not easy. Losing weight comes with its obstacles, most of the time more mental than physical. You may be able to push your body to its limit, but when it comes to your mentality about weight loss and staying healthy, there is nothing more important. You may feel a wide range of emotions regarding your weight loss: excitement, frustration, anger, nervousness, and much more! To lose weight and keep it off, our emotions and mental health must be a top priority to keep in check. We can do this by first exploring our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors about eating and food. Patricia Engler, Ph.D., will use The Beck Diet Solution to help those in her Weight Loss Group navigate the psychological approach to weight loss and maintenance.

Regardless of the reasons for losing weight, it’s inevitable that people will face struggles during their journey. With all the different emotions that can arise, it’s best to explore our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about weight loss to manage these emotions better and stay on track with our goals. Just as it’s essential to remain consistent with our physical goals, it is just as important to keep up with our mental health and continue forming healthy relationships with how we view food. If you’re ready to make these changes and dive into the psychological approach to weight loss, join Patricia Engler, Ph.D.’s group for Weight loss!
